CAMP
INTENTION/PROTOCOL/DETAILS
The central aim of the camp is to reclaim and establish an autonomous Jaara space and to highlight the need for an end to the Genocide of Aboriginal people. Supporters and visitors to the camp are asked to respect the Sovereignty of the Jaara people and act according to proper cultural protocol. Projects and activities of the camp will stem from this cultural base and foster understanding and respect. Programs to address the poverty, poor health, substance abuse, and inadequate education of Aboriginal people are to be established. We are regenerating the site with Indigenous plants, making an Indigenous plant memorial garden and are setting about establishing community vegetable and herb gardens, with the future aspiration of holding community produce and craft markets. We are an inclusive camp that hopes to heighten and not reduce community use of the Franklinford Centre.
